A bit of an update

I met with the radiation department and started the plan. I will start Thursday by having a mask formed to protect my face and several other procedures to prepare my head for the radiation. I thought they were just going to zap the two tumors but they are doing my entire brain. I will have treatments everyday for 10 days. I am going to lose all of my hair again. After the radiation there is a drug they want to put me on. If it is anything like the zoloda drug I was on before I won't take it. I stopped taking it because I was so miserable on it that I chose quality of life over quantity. Thanks for sticking with me all these years and for all of your prayers.....hugs......dianne

Cancer report and a shift in priorities

One morning last week my oncologist called the house (never a good sign).
The CT scan results and the MRI results were in. The cancer had spread into my right shoulder bone, and they also found two spots in my brain. I now have it in my hip bone, liver, lung, spinal cord, shoulder bone and brain. Surprisingly the only part that hurts is my legs and feet. They have been in constant pain for 2 years. It is from the spinal cord surgery. This was what I have dreaded during this ten year cancer roller coaster I have been on. I go to the radiation dr. tomorrow. Not sure how many treatments I have to have. The first time I had radiation for breast cancer I had to go 5 days a week at the exact same time for 25 treatments. The time I went for the cancer in my spinal cord it was only 5 days in one week.
When I was feeling better after the first cancer journey, I told myself  I better scrapbook my little grandsons to leave them with something to show them how much I loved them. They were 2 years old, 8 months old, and 6 weeks old. I did a few pages.  The cancer came back and I said the exact same thing to myself, I would be so mad at myself for not getting it done.......and I didn't. Now we're are at strike 3. I think it would be disrespectful of me to put it off again. I am going to dive into it and get these memories down for our now........5 grandsons.
I'm not sure how much I will post here, or how often. I just know that I have to do this while I can and before the cancer in my brain spreads. I won't post my scrapbook layouts because I am not very good at it.
Enjoy your creativity and share it with others. you will both be blessed
Thank you for your support and the comments you have left on my blog in the past, it means a lot
hugs

Halloween small gift box

This little box is designed to hold a small hand sanitizer. I found this
pattern from Angie at ChicnScratch  on YouTube. This is the video that explains the directions:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t468qle4bXg&feature=c4-overview&list=UUQaJ8xGdpIuEht3WRtuGWdQ

My hand sanitizer was from Bath and Body Works and it was a bit too tall for the measurements, so I had to tweak it a bit. The rosette scalloped stitched die, and the All Around Holidays stamp set is from My Creative Time found here: http://shop.my-creative-time.com/

Thanks for stopping by

Butterfly lattice cards

These butterfly cards were make with a Spellbinders die for the lattice background, and a Cheery Lynn butterfly die. I used clear bling on the blue card and pearl bling on the beige card. This butterfly die is so detailed, and it comes with the solid background die. I decided to keep this one simple. A few more cards to add to my "make ahead" stash. Thanks for stopping by!

It's a secret

Now that my hubby has to go into my craft room and bring all my supplies to me (he's made a million trips it seems). You know how many tools, products, and embellies it takes to make one card! He does the die cutting and some of the punches for me because I can't get the leverage I need to use them since I'm in the bed. He surprised me yesterday with this handmade birthday card! Isn't this awesome? A real treasure. What a guy! He was a little embarrassed for me to show my friends so I am going to show it here. He never looks at my blog!

Pinwheel cards

I found the four pinwheels at Michaels. I thought they would make a fun card. The background papers, straws and sentiment stamp are from my Simon Says card club kit. I really like the sentiment," Find your happy everyday".  So true. No matter how hard the day seems, there is always something positive. I think the pinwheels just look happy! I have been waiting for a new video camera to come in the mail. It arrived and I can't seem to get it to work. There is just something about me and technology. We try to get along, but it's usually a rough start. So, if you saw my sons birthday card a few posts down.................yep, I'll be calling him tonight.

My Sweet Friend RAK

My sweet friend, Carole Lowe-Beath sent me this wonderful RAK! Isn't she wonderful? Yes, she is! She made this adorable tote bag, Kleenex holder (including the Kleenex!) and Mickey card. She knows I love Mickey. She embroidered the Mickey and my name, on the tote bag( that she also made). The tote bag has long handles and will be perfect for the wheelchair. I like to put the handles over my shoulder, to keep it off my legs. I love them! I am going to have hubby take me somewhere, anywhere, tomorrow so that I can fill up my tote and use it. Here they are:

Changes

We have changes all of a sudden. My nurse had to leave me because she got another job, my Kaiser nurse discharged me from the Palliative care program today because she felt that my hubby knows how to take care of me, and that he can handle my meds. Usually you go from Palliative care to Hospice, so, being discharged from Palliative care is a good thing! It's good news, with a bit of concern that we are on our own now. Yesterday at chemo, my dr. stopped the bone strengthening IV meds because I have been on it long enough. That takes two hours off my chemo visit. It was nice to get home sooner. I only have one IV drug there from now on. So, here we go, on another cancer adventure....tfl...d

Computer birthday card

I found this unmounted stamp at a scrapbook convention. It cracked me up. My poor son, every time I have a computer question, I have to call him to figure out what to do. This is the first time I have not colored in the image, but, he likes grey and so I kept the card in those colors. The telephone is a Papertrey ink die and the thought bubble is from Sizzix. I can't do a video on it because my hubby was heading over to the post office to get it in the mail so my son would get it in time for his birthday......I don't know what I would do if it wasn't for all the younger people in my life who know way more about computers than I do!........tfl...d

The meaning of the sentiment

I used the sentiment in the Simon Sais June card kit. Where in the world would I be without you has a very deep meaning in our home. My husband is the only who can lift me in and out of the bed, wheelchair and car. My only option is a nursing home if he can't take care of me. My nurse quit a few weeks ago, and my Kaiser Home Health nurse has discharged me from the program. We are on our own now! But, being discharged from Palliative care is a good thing because I am doing so well right now, that they don't feel that I need them. The other option with Palliative care, is going on to Hospice care. If you go on to Hospice, you are doing pretty bad, so, being discharged from Palliative care is a good thing! It doesn't change that I am still bedbound, but, it means that they think we can handle things on our own.

Happy Fathers Day

I made this Fathers Day card for my hubby with the Simon Sais Stamp kit for the month of June. Since he has to bring all the supplies to me, and would know everything I was using to make his card, it worked out perfect. Other than my paper trimmer and a couple of totes full of supplies, he only had to bring me the box with the kit in it. Of course, I have to make it with him in the room, but, he didn't peek. The only thing that wasn't in the kit was the metal, lifetime piece. I hope all of the Fathers in your lives have a wonderful Fathers Day. My Dad is in Heaven..........Happy Fathers day Dad.

Thinking of You

My 2nd cased card. This design is from Lezlies Ink & Paper Creations. I don't have the border die, or the flower die that she used. I used an old flower die from Quickutz and an EK large border die. I added a bow to the flower stems and used my Candi for the flower centers. I ran the flowers through my Cuttlebug, with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Now it's time to get back to making up my own cards, but I want to give credit to the original creators of these cards. I love their creations.

Ecactly the same, but different

My kids used to say this and it cracked me up. These two cards were made using a few items from the Simon Says May card kit. The peach colored heart trim and the vellum are from the kit. I used my own patterned paper, cardstock, pearls, and butterfly die. The vellum layer on the butterfly is a really nice, heavy weight vellum from the kit, and it worked really well. I cased the design of the card from Vickypgr on You Tube. In fact I cased two cards this week. The other one is the post above this one. I don't usually case cards, but, these two have been in the back of my mind for awhile and I decided to make them.  I added the pearls and used different colors. She used flowers and sealing wax, where I have the butterfly and the hanging hearts. Hope everyone has some fun summer plans. tfl.......d

Some fun new products

I had chemo on Tuesday and was feeling pretty good yesterday, so hubby took me to JoAnns, and Hobby Lobby. I found some fun new products that I can't wait to play with. There's nothing like new craft supplies to put me in a happy mood! I see a lot of people using the project life system. They were doing daily pics and weekly pages, and I thought that wasn't for me because my grandkids pics are mostly on my kids computers. I had a 'duh' moment when HSN had the kits on a craft day. I don't have to do it weekly, I can just use the pages and insert cards for any kind of page. I have been collecting project life products and am going to give it a whirl. I think (if my anal personality will let me) I will mix regular 12x12 pages with project life pages. I won't post my scrapbooking on my blog because I am not a scrapbooker and they will probably be pretty simple. I don't want to stop making cards, but, since I am stage 4 cancer, I need to think about what I am leaving behind for my kids. I always told myself (these past 9 years of cancer battling) if I go and don't have scrapbooking done, I will be really mad at myself, and here it is 9 years later and I only have a few pages done. It's time to kick it in gear and get these photos in albums so my grandkids will be able to look at them and know how much I love them. So, now it will be a mix of cards and scrapbooking. I have so many photos and am so behind! Have a great day and please comment on any ways you know, to get scrapbooking done quickly!

Hang in there video

Hang in there cards

These cards were made with a stamp from Tiddly Inks and an embossing folder from Darice. I chalked the cloud background and also inked around the edges of the cards. Added some ribbon with a colored staple and popped the images up with mounting tape. I colored the image with my Copics. I'm still learning with them, but, I love using them. tfl......d

Sizzix camera die card

This card was made with a Sizzix camera die. It's one of the new thin, wafer type. I think this camera die can be pretty versatile. It comes in a plastic envelope type package, and takes up a lot less space than the steel ruled dies do. I think I'm going to like this new concept. tfl......d

No video

I made a video of the two Just Swingin cards but there is a problem loading it here on my blog. It's on You Tube under mickeydee1.

Just Swingin cards

These two cards were made with the Spellbinders die named Just Swingin. I made one as a Sympathy card and the other is an everyday card. I have always wanted to make a stash of extra cards and never seem to accomplish it. Hopefully, this is just a start to my extra card stash! tfl.....dianne

Happy Mothers Day

Out of the mouths of babes. I love it!

WHY GOD MADE MOMS

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.

2. Mostly to clean the house.

3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.

3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.

2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.

2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.

What kind of a little girl was your mom?

1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.

2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.

3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.

2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?

3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot..

2. She got too old to do anything else with him.

3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.

2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.

3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work..

2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.

3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.

4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.

2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.

2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.

2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.

3 I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

MFT Peeps girl video

MFT Favorite Peeps girl

This liitle girl is a Pure Innocence stamp from My Favorite Things. The fence is also a die from MFT. The branch is from Impression Obsession, and the grass and butterfly punches are from Martha Stewart. This card may look familiar. I made a card similiar to this one for Easter. I was waiting for the branch die to come in the mail. Once it arrived, I knew I wanted to play with this card again. There are so many variations you could make with this stamp. Just cut the little peep and add something else.   tfl....dianne

Daisy cards

These two daisy cards were made with a Whippersnapper stamp. I used Flower Soft for the center of the daisy with Stickles on the flower petals, and the bees wings. On the second card I used Glossy Accents on the bees wings and Copic colored the flower center. I also used Stickles, and Candi.  I was going to get this posted at the beginning of the week, but, I had chemo on Tuesday, so my week sort of went by without me!  tfl....d

Baby boy whale card video

This card is for my sweet friend Holly. She recently became a gramma for the first time. She has a sweet little grandson. This whale stamp is a stamp that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I love this cute stamp. I looked at it everytime I went, and finally decided that if I didn't buy it, it would be gone and I would be online looking everywhere for it. I'm speaking from experience here! Thanks for stopping by my blog......d

Baby Boy

A little baby boy card for my sweet friend. She just became a gramma for the 1st time. There's nothing like a grandbaby! I'm going to try and make a video of this card. I think my old camera will do videos, but I'm not sure of the quality yet. It seems like forever since I've made a video. I have my fingers crossed that it will work! tfl.....d

My Flip is fried

My Flip video camera got fried, so I have to buy another camera. In the meantime I will post a pic of a project. The lattice fence die and the Pure Innocence girl (My Favorite Peeps) are from My Favorite Things. The grass is a Martha border punch. I wanted to add a branch with leaves coming in from the left side and put the sentiment on the inside, but the die didn't arrive yet. tfl......d

Valentine tag

This Valentine tag was made with a Spellbinders label 28 die. I added paper doilies to the sides and also made a little mini envelope out of a heart shaped doilie. The  video below shows the products I used to create this tag. My poor husband had to make so many trips into my craft room to bring me out the supplies I needed for this one. He is starting to remember the names of products and where I keep them! tfl......d

Oops, my video is squeaking

Oh my goodness, I just listened to the video below and mid way through the video, I hear my little dogs tags jingling and then she proceeds to squeak her little tennis ball. I thought I noise proofed the video, by moving my phone to another room, turning off the TV, shutting the door so she wouldn't bark at anything going by, and then she still found a way to be in the video............Yikes!   Sorry....sigh
